The Problem
“Coast guards and border authorities currently lack the technologies, processes and necessary situational awareness required to keep land and maritime (sea and lake) borders safe from cross-border crimes, including smuggling and drug trafficking. Patrolling with manned vessels or aircraft /helicopters is expensive and limited in coverage. Costs of Operations can be reduced, and greater rates of interception can be achieved if land or vessel-based RAVs can patrol wide areas while the Command & Control Centre (vessel or land based) remains in situ or provides deployed vessels or other mobile assets with extended range for more efficient coverage.”
